About Map & Motto
Old maps, new words.
Map & Motto started with a map of Cornwall and a Cornish saying: “I’ll be there dreckly”. People wanted their own place and their own words, so we built a collection of 50 antique maps of towns, cities and counties across the UK and Ireland, and a way to personalise each one.
The maps
Most of our maps date from around 1880 to 1910, many from G.W. Bacon’s county atlases and town plans, with a few later London sheets. We scan them at very high resolution (most at 11,000–15,000 pixels across) so the fine engraved street names and contours stay crisp even at A0.
Your words
Every print carries words you choose, set in our house style. The preview on each map page is drawn by the same code that makes the print file, so what you see is what you get.
How they’re made
Each print is made to order in the UK on 200gsm Enhanced Matte Art paper and dispatched within 1–3 working days, with free UK delivery.
